Creative, colourful and fun, I learnt the art of paint pouring in August 2017 via Pinterest and YouTube. I painted for fun, painting everything I could find; canvasses, clocks, place-mats and coasters. Then I discovered I could do something with the pretty run-off paint drips; I could turn it into jewellery! Each piece is unique and one-off which makes it tricky to make a ‘pair’ of earrings – not identical but they are a pair.
I had amassed quite a collection of hand painted items and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them all. My husband Kev encouraged me to have a market stall. So, I did with my first being in January 2018 in Paynesville and I thoroughly enjoy attending markets across Gippsland: Bairnsdale, Paynesville, Hill End, Yarragon, Jindivick, Kongwak, Rokeby and more.
Proudly born and bred in Bairnsdale I now live in Hill End and have done for 27 years. In Hill End we have the annual Tanjil Valley Art Show which I have entered corry iron paintings of trucks, – usually old trucks that belong to my friends in Hill End. There is something quite special about old trucks…… and old corry iron.
I also have hand painted clocks for sale in The Paynesville Community Craft Centre and The Station Gallery in Yarragon as well as a range of jewellery.
If you are interested in paint pouring have a look online as there is a wealth of information and inspiration available. It is great fun; messy but great fun!
Yours in creative fun and colour, Rachel Cochrane.
